LECTURES
week 6:
At the beginning of the class, the teacher led us through a review of the code we wrote last week. Then came the new lesson content, with the teacher focusing on the implementation of triggering NPC dialogues via button presses, explaining the logic and code writing in great detail.
At the end of the class, the teacher explained the requirements of Week 6's task in detail, focusing on two key points: environmental narrative and player feedback, and the design of branching choices with environmental impact. Specific design examples were also provided for reference, giving us a clearer understanding of the task.
WEEK 6
Fig. 1.1.1 requirement, week 6 (2025/11/30) |
Based on the requirements and drawing on my previous stories, I designed a rough outline of a Mushroom Valley story. The protagonist is an adventurer who arrives in this Mushroom Valley. Here, he will encounter destroyed mushrooms, mysteriously disappearing mushroom people, and a seemingly evil giant spider. Ultimately, he will make a final choice based on the development of the story: kill the spider or spare it.
This is the core of the story, a tree-like structure. There are also some smaller branches that can affect minor plot points, but do not affect the main storyline.
Regarding the environmental narrative, I want the entire valley to appear dark yet filled with a fantastical quality. Therefore, I will use a design with low saturation but a wide range of colors to create a dreamlike, eerie mushroom valley. I will play some background music to enhance this immersive experience.
At the same time, in order to focus on exploration, I also need to create guiding lights. I hope to use glowing mushrooms to create them because it fits the context and is more interesting.
FEEDBACK
This Week 6 story outline for Mushroom Valley really clicks with the task’s core demands. The tree-structured plot with the spider choice as its core is super engaging, and the small branches add nice depth without messing up the main line. The low-saturation, glowing-mushroom design for environmental narrative is so fitting—it’ll definitely build a strong immersive vibe.
